renault s innovative driving technology

As Renault advances its electric vehicle lineup for 2025, the Megane E-Tech and Scenic E-Tech have received significant price adjustments and technical enhancements that position them more competitively in the crowded EV market.

The Megane E-Tech now starts at £32,495, reflecting a substantial £1,500 reduction, while maintaining its 60kWh battery configuration that delivers up to 285 miles of range with a robust 215bhp motor.

The Scenic E-Tech has undergone an even more impressive transformation. Priced from £37,195 after a modest £300 reduction, it now includes the previously optional 87kWh battery pack—an upgrade that previously commanded a £3,500 premium.

This larger battery enables an impressive range of 369 to 381 miles depending on trim level, complemented by an upgraded 215bhp motor that replaces the previous 168bhp unit. The motor achieves 280 Nm of maximum torque, providing exceptional acceleration and responsiveness in various driving conditions.

Both models incorporate advanced one-pedal driving technology, which transforms the driving experience by enhancing control and energy efficiency.

Variable regenerative braking further boosts energy recuperation while offering drivers greater customization options. I’ve found these features particularly valuable during urban commutes, where stop-and-start traffic can actually replenish battery charge rather than deplete it.

The vehicle-to-load capability, now standard across the range, represents a practical innovation that allows these EVs to power external 240V appliances—a feature that turns these cars into mobile power stations.

Renault’s commitment to future-proofing extends to over-the-air update capability, with plug-and-charge functionality scheduled for implementation in 2025. This continues the industry trend toward bi-directional charging capabilities that enhance the utility and flexibility of modern electric vehicles.

Interior refinements haven’t been overlooked, particularly in the premium Iconic Esprit Alpine trim of the Megane, priced at £36,995.

This variant features Formula One-inspired exterior elements, including a distinctive front blade in Matte Shadow Grey.

The updated models will be available for customer orders starting at the end of April 2025, featuring streamlined trim levels that include Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine, and top-tier Iconic Esprit Alpine options.

The extensive update of both models reflects Renault’s broader Renaulution strategy, prioritizing electrification while addressing consumer concerns about price and range.

The combination of price reductions, enhanced battery configurations, and advanced driving technologies positions these vehicles as compelling options in the evolving electric vehicle landscape.
